Career Development; Competencies and Ambitions
After graduation from High-School (HBS in 1966) I joined the University of Economics at (Nijenrode) in Breukelen. In 1968 I had to resign from this University due to urgent private reasons. Joined the Royal Marines until 1972. In this position I was confronted with all dynamics around transportation; distribution and logistics. It was a very rewarding experience to see, that logistics/distribution are the real "lubricant" between manufacturer and user.
In those days a study, focussed on Marketing was relatively new. I saw many alignments between manufacturing and distribution and consumption; moreover since Marketing puts central focus on the consumer behaviour. My natural talents with regards to showing leadership; dedication and motivation and my absolute drive to provide Customer Service, it became obvious, that my ambition was to have a managerial position within Sales/Customer Service.
In due course this led to positions like general management/finance/Supply Chain Management/Procurement and Logistics.
